SCMP 0.1-unstable Alpha is now available

on 13th August in Uncategorized

Hello Everybody,
After waiting for long time to get something that work to you all, we are thrilled to annuonce the release of the very alpha version of SCMP 0.1-unstable after around 10 months of work.

This is an alpha-release this means that it’s for initial testing and we will be testing this system on the public for all H4ck3rZ users and everybody will help us getting this version to beta then to stable.

This version contains the following features:

  • We have TLS working by default and plain-authentication also.
  • Roster is fully working but needs further enhancements. (Rosters are Contact Lists)
  • Online chatting, resource management is working.
  • Offline messages are implemented.
  • LDAP authentication is implemented and tested.

We’ve deployed SCMP on our production server and it’s now using the production LDAP, you can test SCMP using the following information:
1- Your JID is your username on H4ck3rZ network @cat-hackers.net, so for example for me my username is h4ck3r and the JID will be h4ck3r@cat-hackers.net
2- Your password is the same you use to login to h4ck3rZ network
3- Remember to set the server to scmp.cat-hackers.net and port is 5222

please start creating bugs for weird behaviour and start asking questions here on the SCMP Group so we can solve bugs as soon as they appear.

Note that this an alpha release so kindly expect that we might be deleting your roster without getting back to you and you’ll have to add your friends again, note also that you can only add members of @cat-hackers.net to your roster and doing that is pretty easy, simply use your friend’s username before the @ and  you will be able to chat with him from any Jabber/XMPP Client.

Pretty soon we will publish the exact steps on how to configure your Jabber/XMPP client to connect to SCMP.

If you are interested in the source code, please checkout from our svn server the 0.1-unstable branch and if you can give us clues on certain problems that would be highly appreciated.
